Training Outcomes
By the end of the course, learners will be able to:
perform a primary survey and assess dangers, response, airway, breathing and circulation
deliver CPR effectively and use an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
place a casualty in the recovery position and monitor vital signs
respond to choking, bleeding, burns, shock and minor injuries
recognise and respond to medical emergencies including asthma, seizures and cardiac events
act confidently as a designated workplace first aider in real emergency situations
Course Requirements
No formal prerequisites
Learners should be physically able to take part in practical exercises such as CPR and the recovery position
A good understanding of spoken and written English is recommended for training and assessment
Assessment and Certification
Ongoing practical assessment throughout the course
Final practical evaluation
Successful delegates receive a First Aid at Work certificate, typically valid for 3 years
