IRATA Level 3 FAQ's

  • What is IRATA Level 3?

The IRATA Level 3 is the intermediate level in the rope access industry.

An IRATA Level 3 technician shall be capable of rigging working ropes, undertaking rescues and performing rope access tasks (under the supervision of an IRATA Level 3 rope access technician).

A Level 2 will be able to perform a wide range of rope access maneuvres and rescues as well as having a good understanding of the current legislation.

  • How many hours do you need for IRATA Level 2?

At least 1,000 working hours recorded in your Logbook using a variety of rope access techniques, verified by an IRATA Level 3 and a minimum of 1 years experiance at Level 1.

  • Is the IRATA level 2 course hard?

Students should expect a hard week over the five (5) days, both mentally and physically as they learn a wide range of advanced access techniques required to pass the independent assessment on the final sixth (6) day.

  • How much does IRATA Level 2 cost?

The IRATA level 2 course is £849.00 inc VAT for courses held at our Belfast location (prices subject to change).

  • How long is IRATA Level 2 valid?

An IRATA certificate is valid for three years, but if you haven't climbed for more than 6 months according to your logbook it is necessary to take a refresher course (otherwise your certificate is not valid).

  • Can you fail a rope access level 2 course?

Yes, you can a IRATA Level 2 rope access course. Its regarded as the largest jump in moving up the rope access levels going from a level 1 to a level 2, so be prepaired.

However, failing an IRATA assessment is not the end of your rope access career, but it does require prompt action and understanding of the reassessment process.

Use the opportunity to refine your skills, address the discrepancies, and ensure you're fully prepared for your next independant assessment attempt.

  • What is the difference between IRATA Level 1 and 2?

The IRATA Level 2 course is for those professionals who already hold an in-date Level 1 IRATA certificate and have honed their rope access and working at height skills.

Delegates must have over 1000 logged hours of rope access work.
